TLR4 and melanoma: In the phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate–induced human macrophages (phorbol-12-myristate-13-acetate/U937) pretreated with high glucose and LPS (100 ng/ml), follistatin (500 or 750 ng/ml) treatment for 48 hours reduced the number of cells expressing NF-κB and downregulated gene expression of NF-κB, toll-like receptor 4, absent in melanoma 2, IL-1β, and IL-6, along with reduced Activin A secretion.
