The blood tests revealed AIDS (HIV—1 viral load, 2,750,000 copies/mL; CD4+ T cell count—53 cells/mm3; and CD8+ T cell count—517 cell/mm3) and latent syphilis (VDRL-positive and TPHA-positive, without chancre or other clinical symptoms to suggest acute infection).
