Different single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in genes involved in insulin resistance (insulin receptor substrate-1, IRS1), retinol metabolism (patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing 3, PNPLA3), lipid transport (transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2, TM6SF2), and oxidative stress regulation (membrane-bound O-acyl-transferase domain-containing 7, MBOAT7-TMC4) have been described in patients with MASLD [150,151,152]. Here, IRS1 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
