Recent preclinical studies in MASLD and MASH patients have demonstrated that GLP-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) may improve metabolic profiles, liver steatosis as a consequence of indirect inhibition of hepatic gluconeogenesis via the entero-pancreas-liver axis and a beneficial role on liver lipid metabolism [24,25], and may help reduce cardiovascular risk. The gene discussed is GLP1R; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
