Downregulation of SLC5A8 is related to the process of carcinogenesis and was reported in colon [3], thyroid [10,11,14], prostate [9], pancreas [5], squamous cell head, neck [6], breast [7], lung [8], and cervical [32,33] cancers, as well as in gliomas [4] and acute myeloid leukemia [34].
