In relation to the delta values of the biomarkers in patients with and without SIRS, important differences were found, with statistically higher medians in patients with SIRS compared to those without SIRS of ∆ HMGB1 [3.58 (0.26–6.5) vs. 0.6 (−1.1–6.5)], ∆ IL-8 [0.3 (−4–0.05) vs. −2 (−8–0.05)], ∆ IL-10 [0.63 (0.21–0.94) vs. 0.08 (−0.19–0.28)], ∆ IL-1β [0.19 (−3.4–0.73 vs. −1.79 (−8–0.1)], and ∆ MCP1 [0.55 (0.22–0.74) vs. 0.42 (0.28–0.95)], * p < 0.05 (Figure 7). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and systemic inflammatory response syndrome.
