Al-Hendy et al. [29], who investigated the role of 11.25(OH)2D3 in the expression of sex steroid receptors in leiomyoma cells, realized that the deregulation of steroid hormones and their receptors could be a starting point for myoma growth since 1.25(OH)2D3 VDR expression acts as an antiesterogenic agent in these cells. This evidence concerns the gene VDR and benign muscle neoplasm.
