The current study has revealed that HSCs play a central role in the process of liver fibrosis, not only by producing collagen, fibronectin, and other ECM components that accumulate in the extracellular matrix, leading to structural changes and functional impairment of the liver, but also by participating in inflammatory responses, immune modulation, intercellular communication, metabolic level, and ECM remodeling processes [30,31]. This evidence concerns the gene FN1 and Hepatic fibrosis.
