EPN are a heterogeneous group of malignancies with over 95% of cortical brain EPN driven by gene fusions involving the zinc finger translocation-associated (ZFTA) gene, and less than 5% involving the gene encoding YAP1. Tumours driven by ZFTA gene fusions have poorer survival compared with YAP1-fused tumours that are effectively treated with surgery and radiotherapy1. This evidence concerns the gene ZFTA and neoplasm.
