In obesity, adipose tissue chronic inflammation promotes the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-17, and interferon (IFN)-γ, which prolong the extension of chronic inflammation in adipose tissues [53]. Here, IL6 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
