Integrin antagonists—including RGD mimetic compounds, small molecules, or monoclonal antibodies—may block these auxiliary pathways, and ongoing research is evaluating whether combining ACE2-directed therapies with integrin inhibitors can synergistically prevent SARS-CoV-2 entry and mitigate inflammatory cascades associated with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) [13].
