Elevated levels of FGF‐2 have been previously reported in different hematological cancers, such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML),37 myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) as well as MPN38 and is associated with poorer prognosis in non‐Hodgkin's lymphoma.39 This evidence concerns the gene FGF2 and myelodysplastic syndrome.
