Recently, Zhang et al. reported that high fructose consumption increases the activation of the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) to upregulate leptin expression in adipocytes by promoting the accumulation of glycolytic intermediates, thereby contributing to CD8+ T cell-mediated anti-tumor immune response in tumor-bearing mice.15 These findings show that fructose can indirectly affect T cell immunity by influencing adipose tissue. Here, LEP is linked to neoplasm.
