With Food and Drug Administration approval for poly (adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors as treatment for patients with germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations and metastatic breast, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate cancer, there is an additional therapeutic rationale for testing patients with these cancers for germline BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations [5-8]. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA2 and prostate cancer.
