FSP1 is not involved in the canonical ferroptosis pathway but does protect cells against ferroptosis-inducing agents [18]; expression of FSP1 has been shown to correlate with sensitivity to ferroptosis-inducing compounds, including RSL3, while genetic knockdown of FSP1 has been shown to sensitise a range of different cancer cell lines to ferroptosis-inducing compounds [18]. The gene discussed is AIFM2; the disease is cancer.
