Dysregulations in UCP expressions are associated with impairments of thermogenesis and energy expenditure (UCP1), fatty acid metabolism (UCP2 and UCP3), mitochondrial ROS reduction (UCP1‐3), negative regulation of insulin secretion (UCP2), and cytokine‐induced apoptosis (UCP2), all of which are linked to obesity and T2DM [83, 84, 85]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
