In particular, females, patients with splenic abscesses (excluding those who underwent splenectomy), and those with CRP > 12 mg/dL showed significant benefit (OR 0.16 [95% CI 0.04–0.59]/p = 0.004, 0.09 [95% CI 0.01–0.62]/p = 0.008 and 0.23 [95% CI 0.06–0.92]/p = 0.03, respectively)—see also Figure 2. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is splenic abscess.
