FUS and Caudate atrophy: Interestingly, fused in sarcoma (FUS), one of the key proteins implicated in FTLD-FET,60 is associated with early and prominent caudate atrophy.61 Some authors have recently proposed that the involvement of the caudate nucleus and its network in FTLD-FET may be the upstream mechanism of neurodegeneration and the driver of cognitive impairment.62
