Interleukin-8 (IL-8, a.k.a. CXCL8) is a chemokine produced by both immune and non–immune cellular populations (ie, endothelial and cancer cells)3–6 and is normally undetectable in quiescent cells because of a three-step negative regulation mediated by NF-κb,7 OCT-1,8 and HDAC-19 factors. This evidence concerns the gene CXCL8 and cancer.
