Gap19, a selective Cx43‐HC inhibitor, has been found to block Cx43‐HCs without impairing gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC), to prevent dopaminergic neuronal loss and to reduce microglial reactive phenotype in PD models (Lissoni et al. 2023; Maatouk et al. 2019). This evidence concerns the gene GJA1 and Parkinson disease.
