Two amino acid transporters involved in neuronal regulation have been implicated in glioma development and proliferation: the neutral amino acid transporters solute carrier family A1 member 5/alanine-serine-cysteine transporter 2 (ASCT2) and solute carrier family A7 member 5/L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) [3,4]. The gene discussed is SLC38A7; the disease is central nervous system cancer.
