Furusawa et al. (16) demonstrated that PBMCs from sarcoidosis patients showed increased production of Th1 cytokines (IL-2, IL-12) but reduced levels of the Th17 cytokine IL-17 in response to viable C. acnes, indicating a Th1-skewed immune profile that may contribute to chronic granulomatous inflammation. Here, IL17A is linked to sarcoidosis.
