Other study limitations include: 1) visceral fat is known to influence blood pressure (Covassin et al., 2018), but an assessment of visceral versus subcutaneous fat content was not conducted; 2) we did not measure circulating factors, such as angiotensin II and endothelin-1, that are known to be elevated in obesity and have vascular effects (Barton et al., 2003); 3) our vascular assessments ex vivo were generally limited to myogenic reactivity and phenylephrine sensitivity; and 4) with the exception of radial arteries, we did not assess endothelial function.
