Thus, pigs with metabolic derangement and CKD showed elevated levels of TNF‐α and IL‐6, evidence for diastolic dysfunction (Chade & Eirin, 2022; Sorop et al., 2018) as well as reduced CFR and impaired myocardial perfusion (van de Wouw et al., 2020) that was mediated by loss of NO‐dependent vasodilation at rest and during exercise and accompanied by reduced eNOS expression, eNOS uncoupling, and impaired endothelium‐dependent vasodilation of isolated coronary small arteries (van de Wouw et al., 2021).
