Although commonly associated with muscle tissue loss in conditions of cachexia or sarcopenia, TNF‐α also has important roles in muscle repair (Warren et al., 2002) and growth and differentiation (Li, 2003; MacLachlan & Giordano, 1998), and can be produced locally by myocytes and myoblasts (Peake, Della Gatta, et al., 2015; Saghizadeh et al., 1996). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and Cachexia.
