In colon cancer, overexpression of functional ATP1B3 has been shown to decrease TPp53 transcriptional activity, resulting in apoptotic resistance in neoplastic cells.(36) Additionally, the expression of ATP1B3 varies among different types of cancer, with upregulation observed in hepatocellular adenomas and focal nodular hyperplasia and downregulation in liver metastasis of pancreatic cancer.(37) Although there is evidence for a positive association between ATP1B3 and tumorigenesis, our study suggests that this gene is critical for identifying patients who respond well to treatment. This evidence concerns the gene ATP1B3 and colonic neoplasm.
