Future research is warranted to test several hypotheses arisen from the current study: (i) lipids are generally inversely associated with the risk of cancer; (ii) lipids play a unique role in liver cancer development; (iii) ALT exhibits differential associations with the risk of other digestive cancers beyond the liver; and (iv) baseline profile of lipids and liver enzyme is differentially linked to the risk of cancers at different organ sites. This evidence concerns the gene GPT and liver cancer.
