IGF2BP2 and female infertility: ALKBH5 ensures timely maternal RNA degradation during oocyte maturation by dynamically erasing m6A marks, thereby preventing stabilization of transcripts via the m6A reader IGF2BP2; loss of ALKBH5 disrupts RNA clearance through persistent m6A-IGF2BP2 interactions, leading to defective meiosis and female infertility (Bai et al., 2023).
