Genes mediating T-cell receptor (TCR) function were enriched in asymptomatic malaria, including CAMK4, TESPA1, and CD5 that facilitate TCR enhancement, activation, and signaling, LAT, which encodes an enzyme phosphorylated following TCR activation (Zhang et al, 1999) and the transcription factors TCF7 and LEF1 involved in the regulation of peripheral T-cell differentiation via WNT signaling (Willinger et al, 2006) (Fig. 3E). This evidence concerns the gene TESPA1 and malaria.
