Angiopoietin 2 (Ang-2) is a cellular regulatory factor that acts on vascular endothelial cells and plays an important role in the process of new angiogenesis.[6] Ang-2 levels are elevated in a rat model of myocardial infarction.[7] It is highly expressed in the myocardial tissue of patients with myocardial ischemia.[8] In addition, there have been reports of elevated plasma Ang-2 levels in patients with ACS.[9]. This evidence concerns the gene ANGPT2 and myocardial infarction.
