Taken together, these results demonstrate the susceptibility of immunodeficient mouse strains to ZIKV infection, characterized by robust and sustained viremia and extended survival compared to some other commonly used mouse models (17, –, 19, 24, 26, 27), without the need for the administration of pathogenesis-enhancing interventions like anti-IFN treatment. Here, IFNA1 is linked to Zika virus infectious disease.
