Specifically, EBV drives malignant transformation of follicular dendritic cells via latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1)-mediated hyperactivation of the nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway, resulting in pathological hallmarks including spindle-to-ovoid tumor cells arranged in fascicles or storiform patterns, peritumoral lymphocytic infiltration, thin-walled vascular proliferation, and focal necrosis/hemorrhage. This evidence concerns the gene NFKB1 and neoplasm.
