The increase in acetate production in streptozotocin‐induced type 2 diabetic rats after treatment with a mix of probiotics is associated with an improvement in the expression of tight junction genes claudin‐1, occludin, ZO‐1, and MUC2 and a decrease in the secretion of inflammatory cytokines IL‐1β, TNF‐α and IL‐6 (Manaer et al. 2025). This evidence concerns the gene IL1B and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
