The eighth report of the Joint National Committee on the management of high blood pressure in adults recommended that CKD patients, whether younger or older than 60 years of age, should maintain a blood pressure below 140/90 mmHg, and encouraged the use of ACE inhibitors or ARBs to treat hypertension in CKD patients - regardless of ethnic background - either as first-line therapy or in addition to it [19]. This evidence concerns the gene ACE and chronic kidney disease.
