Anti-apoptotic BCL2 family proteins, including Myeloid Cell Leukemia 1 (MCL1) and B-cell Lymphoma-extra Large (BCLXL), are inhibitors of the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis [28, 29], and are often overexpressed in DLBCL as a result of gene translocation events, gene amplifications, mutations within open reading frames, and microenvironment-mediated increased NF-κB activity [30]. This evidence concerns the gene MCL1 and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
