In contrast to our findings, which show that exhausted T cells exhibit lower mitophagy, reanalysis of single-cell RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data from recently published human colorectal cancer (CRC) datasets (SCP259) (44) revealed a general up-regulation of genes that promote mitophagy in exhausted CD8+ T cell subsets, compared to naïve T cells (Fig. 2A). Here, CD8A is linked to colorectal carcinoma.
