Several chemokines were primarily expressed in cancer cells (CXCL16, CXCL5, CCL20, CXCL3) while other chemokines were preferentially expressed by endothelial cells (CXCL12) or fibroblasts (CCL19), suggesting that chemokine expression patterns in irradiated tumors may be greatly influenced by cell type composition (Figure 1B). The gene discussed is CCL20; the disease is cancer.
