Caspase‐8 has been identified as a key component of the ZBP1‐initiated cell death complex, playing a key role in mediating apoptosis following influenza virus infection.[12, 15, 17, 31] To investigate its involvement during β‐coronavirus infection in human bronchial epithelial cells, we initially assessed the recruitment of caspase‐8 to the cell death complex via the co‐immunoprecipitation assay following infection with hCoV‐OC43 in wild‐type Beas‐2B cells. The gene discussed is ZBP1; the disease is infection.
