Svensson et al. showed that the CDKN2B gene is highly expressed in subcutaneous adipose tissue, its expression is linked to markers of hepatic steatosis and postprandial triacylglycerol clearance, and the polymorphism in ANRIL modifies CDKN2B expression in a body mass index (BMI)-dependent fashion; therefore, it has been suggested that the ANRIL polymorphism may be involved in ectopic fat accumulation [31].
