The PCOS trial supported the positive effects of simvastatin as compared with placebo on a range of outcomes including hormones (e.g., testosterone, DHEA), lipids, menstrual regulatory, hirsutism, acne, ovarian volume, body mass index, and waist hip ratio; this trial did not find benefit of simvastatin therapy on fasting glucose, fasting insulin, or HOMA-IR index (insulin resistance measure).
