SNCA and synucleinopathy: Parkinson’s disease may also be considered a part of the so-called synucleinopathies, along with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), multiple system atrophy (MSA), and pure autonomic failure (PAF), since they are related to the accumulation of an abnormal version of the protein alpha-synuclein in the nerve cells, which is also referred to as phosphorylated alpha-synuclein (P-SYN) [2].
