In this sense, a previous report carried out by Marzuillo et al. found that 7.4% of pediatric patients with acute appendicitis developed mild prerenal acute kidney injury (elevated creatinine serum levels), linked to vomiting, dehydration above 5%, fever over 38.5 °C, and elevated C-reactive protein and neutrophil levels [43] which may to explain the importance of serum creatinine levels observed in our study. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is acute kidney injury.
