The chronic PI3K signaling alters the weakening memory-related circuitry and contributes to memory impairment by reducing the insertion of GluA1-containing AMPA receptors into the membrane, decreasing phosphorylation of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor subunits Ser896 and Tyr1472, and downregulating the expression of activity-regulated cytoskeleton-associated protein (Arc). This evidence concerns the gene ARC and memory impairment.
