STK11 and cancer: Given the bifunctional nature of both chemokines and their receptors within the TME, as they can exhibit both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory effects, depending on the specific physiological context, our analysis revealed a predominantly negative correlation between the PEBP1/STK11 co-expression pattern and the so-called immunosuppressive chemokine receptor genes across most of the analyzed cancer types (Figure 4A).
