In a study of endometrial cancer, Goldman et al. investigated the expression of GLUT1 in normal endometrial tissue and 65 endometrial cancer tissue specimens from hysterectomized uteruses and reported that GLUT1 expression increased as the tissue became less differentiated histologically; expression of GLUT1 in serous adenocarcinoma was twice that in well-differentiated adenocarcinoma (G1) (p = 0.002) [31]. The gene discussed is SLC2A1; the disease is serous adenocarcinoma.
