C4A and Huntington disease: A study by Singhrao et al. [68] investigated complement activation and biosynthesis in post-mortem HD brains (n = 9) and healthy controls (n = 3); the striatum, neurons, myeline and astrocytes were stained with antibodies to C1q, C4, C3, iC3b-neoepitope and C9-neoepitope, and a normal striatum presented with no complement staining [68].
