Microglia-like macrophages in the CSF of TBM adults highly expressed genes for Toll-like receptors (TLR2/4/7), which are involved in Mtb recognition and phagocytosis, as well as complement-activating components (C1QA/B/C) and genes related to interferon (CXCL9/10) and inflammatory (APOE, APOC1) responses. The gene discussed is CXCL9; the disease is meningeal tuberculosis.
