The significantly higher fasting insulin levels (18.5 ± 4.3 vs. 12.6 ± 3.8 μU/mL, p<0.001) and HOMA-IR (4.5 ± 1.2 vs. 2.8 ± 0.9, p<0.001) in obese PCOS women indicate profound insulin resistance. This evidence concerns the gene INS and polycystic ovary syndrome.
