Cirrhotic patients who underwent systemic periodontal therapy improved endotoxemia as well as systemic and local inflammation and modulated salivary and fecal microbiota dysbiosis within 30 days. In contrast, endotoxin and lipopolysaccharide-binding proteins were increased over the same duration in the cirrhotic group that did not receive periodontal therapy. This evidence concerns the gene LBP and serum lipopolysaccharide activity.
