PCSK9 and Hypercholesterolemia: PCSK9 is a member of the PCSK family and is particularly important for brain development.[32, 33, 34] Analysis of gene databases has shown a significant correlation between functional deletions of PCSK9 and the occurrence of NTDs in humans.[28] We previously identified PCSK9 as a biomarker for the prenatal diagnosis of NTDs.[29] Furthermore, the lipid‐lowering efficacy of PCSK9 inhibitors, which are widely used in hypercholesterolemia management,[35, 36] is higher than that of statins.
