In CANTOS, patients with a history of prior MI and elevated C-reactive protein who received the interleukin-1 β inhibitor canakinumab had a 15% reduction in major cardiovascular events, with a concomitant 55% reduction in incident gout flares (among patients without gout) and a 31% reduction in gout flares (among patients without gout) [32,33]. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and gout.
